ASSEMBLY

Jen was just amazing!!! She combines reading, writing, drawing, music, and creativity into one 30 minute assembly ~ magical!!!
- Sharon Arsenault, Reading Specialist, Kehrs Mill Elementary

The Mister Lemur Assembly Experience is much more than an author visit. Using stories and songs, Jen makes the writing process come alive as she walks students through writing, drawing, editing and printing books. Over the course of 45-minutes, Jen re-frames writing as the starting point for creativity and learning, and she tells children, “the rest is up to your imagination.”

CONTINUED LEARNING

“You were at my son ‘s school today and he was thrilled with your performance. He couldn’t wait to come home and place his order. Thank you for sparking his interest.”
- Sharon Dodd, Parent

It’s not enough to pique interest. Real learning occurs when students’ curiosity drives them to learn more… in the classroom… in the library… at home… and online. That’s why Mister Lemur provides activities that extend learning beyond the assembly.

Writing Contest
During the assembly, Jen will invite students to apply what they’ve learned and create their own one-page Mister Lemur style story. You’ll be amazed at what these young writers have created.

Camp
Adventures in Writing Camp is Mister Lemur’s week-long day camp, where students’ improve their writing skills by focusing on specific traits and styles of writing. Camps are offered during breaks and summer.

CHANGING LIVES

“My name is Iris. I’m 12 years old and I love to draw. Also, I love to write. When I grow up I want to be an author and illustator. I just recently saw you at my school with your book “Train of Thought”. You inspired me to become a writer and illustator. So pretty much, this email is just to thank you.. I really needed some insperation, and now I have it!”
-Iris, student

It’s hard to imagine that one book, one experience or one teacher can change a life… It can!

We aim to provide experiences that gently lead young readers to new perspectives on reading, writing and poetry with positive life changing results. After all, Mister lemur changed our life. He can change yours too….
